How Much Practice Should I Have With My Guitar?
I think this is the most important piece of advice I can give any prospective student. Ask yourself how much time can you afford to practice; it is the difference between succeeding or failing. And be really honest to yourself. As a beginner you do not need to practice an hour a day, (its good if you can but makes learning tedious) instead little and often is the key to achieving your goals.
I always say 10 to 20 minutes per day of focused practice is enough as a beginner, it keeps things fresh and get results quicker than doing big blocks of practice at the weekends.
Good practice encourages better practice; think of it like physical exercise, it takes discipline, it can be difficult, but your hard work will be rewarded, and it will be very fulfilling. There are always new challenges and as you advance your practice will develop with you.
